“Light one candle for the Maccabee children
With thanks that their light didn’t die
Light one candle for the pain they endured
When their right to exist was denied.” (Peter Yarrow)
With Israel engaged in a bloody conflict on the battlefield as well as on the international stage, and with antisemitism skyrocketing these days on college campuses and along streets around the world, the joyful holiday of Chanukah couldn’t come at a better time.
