It might’ve been a dreadfully foggy, rainy night, but members of the local Conservative community refused to let inclement weather stop them Sunday from coming together to celebrate the Festival of Lights.
Congregants of Beth El, Beth Israel and Chizuk Amuno joined forces Dec. 10 to take part in “Light Up The Night,” an indoor Chanukah illumination celebration. Held at Pikesville’s Chizuk Amuno, the two-hour gathering featured a dairy dinner (pasta, latkes, salad and sufganiyot), a chanukiah lighting and a colorful laser light show in the shul’s main sanctuary.
Among the clergy in attendance were Beth El’s Rabbis Steven Schwartz and Naomi Zaslow and Cantor Thom King, Beth Israel’s Rabbi Rachel Safman and Cantor Benjamin Matis, and Chizuk Amuno’s Rabbis Joshua Z. Gruenberg and Deborah Wechsler and Cantor Joel Lichterman.
Welcoming attendees was Bob Hallock, Chizuk Amuno’s president. In the spirit of the holiday season, attendees were asked to bring new winter items (hats, gloves, socks, etc.) to donate to the Baltimore Crisis Center.
