JCC Hosts Forum for Executives from JCCs Across North America

More than 150 Jewish community center executives from around the United States and Canada came together Jan. 26-29 for the Mifgash Executive Leadership Forum at the JCC of Greater Baltimore.

Presented by the New York-based JCC Association of North America, Mifgash – which is Hebrew for encounter — is an annual leadership forum at which JCC movement senior executives gather and learn together. 

The Mifgash retreat is designed to be a motivational gathering allowing executives to focus on personal and professional growth without day-to-day responsibilities and other distractions. The gathering focuses on commitment to missions locally and continentally, with an invitation to be forward-thinking and strategic through individual reflection and interpersonal connections.

Large-group sessions featured keynote speakers and panel discussions. There were also smaller peer gatherings, workshops, self-selected discussion groups and social networking time.

The attendees were welcomed to the forum by Barak Herman, CEO of the JCC of Greater Baltimore CEO since November of 2012. Hermann, who in late June will become the president and CEO of the JCC Association of North America, led a conversation from CEOs who have transformed their local nonprofit organizations in new ways.
