Na’aleh: The Hub for Leadership Learning recently announced that local Jewish community professionals Barak Hermann, Jenny Seidman, Julie Tonti and Rachael Walkins will be honored at its annual event on Tuesday morning, June 10, at Pikesville’s Beth El Congregation.
An agency of The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore, Na’aleh offers community-wide interactive and learning opportunities for professionals and volunteers.
Hermann, who has served as chief executive officer of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore since 2012, will received the Daniel Thursz Distinguished Jewish Communal Service Award.
This annual award recognizes an individual who has worked in the field of Jewish communal service for at least 20 years, serves the greater Baltimore community and demonstrates leadership and exemplary professional skills.
At the end of June, Hermann will begin working as president and CEO of the JCC Association of North America.
Seidman, who is event manager at The Associated, will receive the Unsung H.E.R.O. Award, which recognizes an individual who goes “above and beyond their typical daily job, to care about the overall functioning of the organization and the people that surround them, and supports their organization with ‘Heart, Excellence, Reliability and Optimism.’”
Tonti, who is director of community partnerships at Jewish Educational Services, will receive received the Neely Tal Snyder Community Impact Award.
This award — named in memory of the educator, advocate and program director at Reisterstown’s Pearlstone Center who passed away at age 37 in August of 2015 — recognizes a professional with a strong commitment and passion for the Jewish community.
Walkins, who is the national culinary director at the Reisterstown-based Adamah environmental organization, will receive received the Outstanding Jewish Communal Professional award for demonstrating exceptional promise and a commitment to a career in Jewish communal service.
