More than 100 young local Jewish athletes participated last Sunday, May 5, in the 2024 Mid-Atlantic Mini & Junior Maccabi Games at the Siegel Jewish Community Center in Wilmington, Delaware.
Modeled after the JCC Maccabi Games, this one-day, Olympic-style competition is geared toward participants between the ages of 9 and 12. The gathering included more than 700 athletes from around the region.
Sports included boys’ and girls’ soccer, boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ baseball, boys’ and girls’ swimming, and boys’ and girls’ tennis.
Team gold medals for Baltimore competitors were won in junior boys’ soccer and junior boys’ baseball home run derby. Team silver medals were won in junior girls’ soccer. Team bronze medals were won in mini girls’ basketball and mini boys’ soccer.
In addition, multiple individual medals were won by local athletes in tennis and swimming.
