Rabbi Ari Flamm, former executive director of the Bais Yaakov School for Girls of Baltimore, passed away Tuesday, Apr. 19. The Northwest Baltimore resident, who was a board member of the Chevra Ahavas Chesed emergency fund, was 83.
Rabbi Flamm became Bais Yaakov’s executive director in 1971. Four years later, he was instrumental in the school’s purchase of a 48-acre property in Owings Mills, as well as Bais Yaakov’s building campaign.
Rabbi Flamm was also involved in the school’s purchase and development of its 26-acre campus at 6300 Smith Avenue in Mount Washington.
In 2014, he retired from Bais Yaakov after 46 years and became the school’s executive director emeritus.
Rabbi Flamm is survived by his wife, Hadassah Flamm (nee Goldman); his children, Efy (Penina) Flamm, Aviva (Yossi) Rosenberg, Yossi (Chani) Flamm, Yisroel Meir Flamm, Shoshi (Binyomin) Benjamin, Shaul (Raizy) Flamm, Shira (Naftali) Chayn, and Dovid (Rivky) Flamm; his brother, Rabbi Gershom “Lee” Flamm; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 2:30 p.m. at Bais Yaakov, 6300 Smith Avenue in Mount Washinton. Interment will be Chevra Ahavas Chesed Cemetery, 9780 Liberty Road in Randallstown.

The family will be in mourning at 6105 Biltmore Avenue in Northwest Baltimore through next Monday morning, Aug. 25.
