MLK Day Program to Focus on Youth Justice

January 18 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Jews United for Justice invites the community to participate in a special Martin Luther King Day program centered on youth justice. The event — at Har Sinai Oheb Shalom Congregation, 7310 Park Heights Avenue — aims to address critical issues such as reducing incarceration rates among young people and creating a safer environment for children and teenagers.

Maryland currently charges more youth as adults per capita than any other state except Alabama. This practice has significant implications for youth, communities, and the broader justice system.

Program Highlights: Video presentation introducing the topic of youth justice and its significance in today’s society. Synagogue Social Justice Roundtable: Panel discussion featuring experts who will explore the challenges and potential solutions related to youth incarceration, with a particular focus on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s enduring legacy in the fight for justice. The program will include a call to action in support of legislation in the 2026 Maryland General Assembly session.
