On Thursday, May 13, the Baltimore Zionist District and Stand With Us Mid-Atlantic held a rally in support of Israel on the sidewalk of Stevenson Road, by the Interstate-695 bypass. About 300 people, some draped in Israeli flags, attended.

Parking was made available at nearby Chizuk Amuno Congregation, 8100 Stevenson Rd. in Pikesville. Organizers of the 90-minute rally asked attendees to avoid back areas of the parking lot, where COVID-19 testing is taking place.

“As we all are aware and as the tensions keep rising in Israel, it’s come time for the Baltimore community to step up and show its support for our brothers and sisters,” the rally organizers said in a statement. “The Baltimore Zionist District and Stand with Us join the many cities coast to coast and Jewish communities who have planned Pro-Israel Rallies in Solidarity for Israel. Stand up against terror and join us in one of the rallies across the U.S. against terror and in support of Israel and its people.”

Organizers called on attendees to bring or make an Israeli flag, signs and posters, as well to come with friends and family members. Participants were asked to wear face masks at all times and remain on the sidewalks, and social distancing was enforced. Baltimore County Police Department officers were present at the event to ensure public safety.
