Columbia Celebrates Annual LakeFest Event
Columbia Festival of the Arts’ LakeFest will be back and in-person from June 10-12 on the Columbia Town Center lakefront. This fun and free weekend event, which has become synonymous with the arts and culture of Howard County, celebrates the organization’s 35th anniversary season. The three-day event includes a variety of live music and arts performances highlighted by Australian-based touring company Sway: Bloom, an Invitational Fine Arts and Crafts Show, entertainment for all ages, along with a variety of festival food and beer garden.
Highlights of the 2022 LakeFest weekend will include more than a dozen live performances on the LakeFest Stage Friday and Saturday; a showcase of the finest local high school musical ensembles on Sunday; more than 40 juried artists displaying and selling one-of-a-kind artwork throughout the weekend; and a large selection of festival food favorites. Event Hours are Friday, June 10, from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Saturday, June 11, from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; and Sunday, June 12, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
LakeFest will also feature two movie nights on Friday (“Pee Wee’s Big Adventure“) and Saturday (“Little Shop of Horrors”) as part of the fourth annual Columbia Film Festival. The Film Festival will be a hybrid event featuring more than 60 local, national, and international films. This year’s event will include indoor screenings at Howard Community College (June 17 & 18), free outdoor films during LakeFest (June 10 & 11), and online viewing options via the EVENTIVE platform (June 15 -18) so movies may be enjoyed just about anywhere through Apple TV and Roku For information about LakeFest and the Columbia Film Festival, visit ColumbiaFestival.org.
