I’m so excited to come back to Camp Airy and play all of my favorite sports. At camp, I like to play football, basketball, baseball and many other sports. All of the staff members help me get better at the sports I love. In football clinic this week, I learned how to make my route running quicker and faster. In choice periods, I got to show what I have learned. When I’m not at Camp Airy, I use some of the new tactics that I learned to learn more and practice them all year.

Then, when I go back to Camp Airy, I learn harder tactics to try and improve my game even more. You can learn different tactics for any sport so you can improve.

The thing I love most about Camp Airy is when Olympics start. Olympics at Camp Airy are when two staff members are chosen to be team captains for the green team and white team. The two staff members that are chosen are called generals and they each have pep rallies to introduce their themes.  They each pick their teams, and campers sign up to compete in events like swimming, card games, relay races, and sports contests. Every time you win a game, you earn points for your team. At the very end, each unit of bunks of the same age represents the green team or white team in the tug of war. There also is a staff tug of war where all staff members use their strength to try and win it for their general. After tug of war, the winner is announced and everyone is happy for the winning general.

Every year when camp ends, I’m sad to leave. But I can’t wait for next summer to see all of the new friends that I make every year and all of the cool staff members that always make camp more fun!
