BZD to Host ‘Tragic Awakening’ Documentary at Beth Tfiloh
Join the Baltimore Zionist District for a special screening and discussion of the film “Tragic Awakening: A New Look at the Oldest Hatred.” The recently released documentary delves into the roots of antisemitism in light of the explosion of Jew-hatred in the aftermath of the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attacks.
The screening of the 52-minute film will be held at the Beth Tfiloh Mintzes Theatre, 3300 Old Court Road in Pikesville (please use the East Entrance).
“Tragic Awakening” features Rawan Osman, who will join in person for a Q&A with Beth Tfiloh’s Rabbi Chai Posner immediately following the screening.
Osman is the narrator of the film, and studies Islamic and Jewish Studies at Heidelberg University.
She is a Syrian-Lebanese influencer who grew up hating Israel and Jews but became an activist advocating peace with Israel. She has more than 75,000 Instagram followers.
Also appearing in the film are actress Mayim Bialik and Michal Cotler-Wunsh, Israel’s special envoy for combatting antisemitism.
David Suissa, editor of the Jewish Journal, praised “Tragic Awakening ” for going “beyond the cliches … a must-watch.”
Besides the BZD and Beth Tfiloh, the local screening will be sponsored by Aseret, Friends of the IDF, Shomrei Emunah, Ner Tamid Greenspring Valley and Bnai Jacob Shaarei Zion.
