Md. School for the Blind to Hold ‘See Beyond Festival’

The Maryland School for the Blind will host its fourth annual “See Beyond Festival” on Saturday, Apr. 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its campus at 3501 Taylor Avenue in Baltimore. This free, community event encourages people of all ages and abilities to “see beyond” by participating in adapted activities aimed to help all learn about and embrace accessibility.
New this year, the festival will feature a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) theme, bringing new experiences for attendees to celebrate accessibility for all.
All visitors to The See Beyond Festival will have the unique opportunity to try adaptations, with the use of light-blocking eye shades, in a host of blind sports, including beep baseball, blind soccer, blind lacrosse, and sprint track. Visitors will also be able to experience adaptations in STEM, robotics, gaming, photography, and technology to discover first-hand how designing for accessibility benefits everyone.
The festival will also feature:
- A Kid Zone offering free balloon animals, face painting, sensory and braille crafts and interactive activities. Kids are also invited to enjoy MSB’s fully accessible playground.
- Try blind sports, including beep baseball, blind soccer, blind lacrosse, and sprint track.
- Blind food tastings.
- Accessible gaming and tech demos.
