Temple Isaiah will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its signature event, “Rosh HaShanah in Our Park,” on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 16, beginning at 2 with a bring-your-own-picnic lunch (if you wish), a family service led clergy and educators at 2:45, and a tashlich service at 4.

The service, which will be led by the Reform congregation’s Rabbi Craig H. Axler, will be held for the first time in the 20-acre backyard of  Temple Isaiah, at 12200 Scaggsville Rd. in Howard County’s Fulton community. (In the past, the service was held at the Merriweather Chrysalis in Columbia and at Ellicott City’s Centennial Park.)

The free and open event is a lively, musical and fun celebration that includes the sounding of the shofar, the reading of the Torah, and holiday-themed crafts and snacks. Geared for younger children, “Rosh HaSahanah in our Park” — which typically attracts between 500-800 attendees — has drawn an intergenerational crowd since its inception.
