Cooling temperatures, falling leaves and — love it or hate it — pumpkin-flavored everything can only mean one thing. It’s fall in Baltimore!

Another big tip-off? The autumnally-hued shoes, bags and garments gracing the racks and windows of Bmore’s best boutiques. Clearly, it’s time for a wardrobe refresh. To start your fashion sojourn off on the right foot, here’s a quick rundown of the latest trends of the season.

Coats

Look for a wide array of options for winter toppers including brass-buttoned, military-inspired looks, snuggly shearling, and enough animal print to fill a jungle. Bold plaids in unexpected shades and nubby dusty pinks are sure cures for the winter doldrums.

Dresses

Iconic 1980s-style one shoulder gowns enjoy a resurgence, though today’s incarnations are far more sophisticated than the one you wore to your senior prom. A garden of botanicals sprinkle evening gowns and sumptuously draped velvets contrast with delicate lingerie-inspired frocks.
