Calling All Former Catskill Hotel Staffers

Did you work at one of the storied resorts of Sullivan and Ulster counties in the Catskill Mountains – the so-called “Jewish Alps”? Were you making history and contributing to Borscht Belt culture at some point during the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s? Did “Dirty Dancing” and its fictional version of Grossinger’s make you nostalgic for those summers when you worked hard and played harder?

If so, you’re invited to a reunion on May 4, 2019, at the Villa Roma Resort in Callicoon, N.Y.

Event organizer Robin Kauffman of Rhode Island considers herself a “Catskill Mountain Rat” who worked at one of the area hotels through college and met her husband at the Concord Hotel. Of her time there, Kauffman said “it influenced and shaped” her life.

The reunion is open to all staff members (think counselors, gift shop employees, band members, servers, etc.) from all years and hotels, and will include a stand-up comedy show, DJ and dancing and more from 7-11 p.m.

To attend the reunion, which costs $90 per person, contact Kauffman at rmkauff100@cox.net. Make hotel reservations at reservations.travelclick.com.

Additionally, if you would like to share some of your memories from working in or vacationing in The Catskills, send your brief anecdotes to amandak@jmoreliving.com or comment on Facebook.
