Ingredients

  • 3 Granny Smith apples (or any apples)
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

For Dough:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter (or vegetable oil)

For Topping:

  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 1/3 cup sliced almonds (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for garnish

Instructions

  • Peel and chop the apples. Place them in a deep pie dish and toss them lightly with the sugar and cinnamon.
  • Bake at 350° for about 15 minutes or until your dough is ready.
  • While the apples are baking, mix the dough ingredients.
  • Remove the apples from the oven and spread the dough on top covering the apples. Work with the back of the spatula, pushing the dough in between the apples. You will want the dough to spread all over and reach the bottom of the dish in some areas.
  • Sprinkle sugar and sliced almonds on top and bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven, let cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar to make it pretty.
