The Food Issue 2025: Under the Influence

News anchor Megan Knight recommends the Caesar salad and pizza at Birroteca's bar. (provided photo)

People constantly ask me where some of the best eating spots are in and around town, and what particular dishes to order.

Like a lot of folks, I often turn to friends and associates in the dining community for their thoughts and suggestions. Here are some recommendations from four leading local media personalities and influencers.

The boyfriend and I love to sit at the bar at Birroteca. And if you can believe it, one of my favorite things to get there is the Caesar salad because they use Ciabatta croutons, and I could eat an entire bowl full of them!

The wild boar Bolognese is also quite delicious as is the spicy Italian pizza.

Recently opened, Cafe Luli in Stevenson Village offers fresh pastries made in-house, sweet and savory, and delish coffee. Love their matcha drinks. Try the Nutella croissant and the stuffed, savory croissants. The crispy chocolate chip cookies are awesome too.

Delish Mexican at Anejo Rose Cantina & Tequila Bar on Arundel Mills Blvd. We love the patio on nice days, but there’s a great dining room/bar area, too. Excellent cocktail selections, and don’t miss the jalapeño margarita. Love the chicken fajitas and the chopped burrito bowl!

Love the fresh fish options at Glenwood’s and they also have a great impossible burger and salads. Happy Hour at Ruth’s Chris Pikesville includes dining on the covered patio, and there are great offerings on food and drinks. Love the ahi tuna, and when I’m craving a burger, that’s my go-to.

Sometimes, I crave the forever faves like Tio Pepe’s. It’s consistent, delicious, and that sangria can’t be beat!

I like the pizza with jalapenos and mushrooms at Tov Pizza, and their Greek salad.

I feed my own dogs a rotating combination of dry, canned, gently cooked, freeze-dried and raw foods. Also, the Signature brand limited ingredient kibble is a good choice for dogs with allergies. And did you ever wonder why suddenly your pup may stop eating or have a reaction to their everyday food? It could be that the ingredients in pet foods can change without notice. This is just one reason to include a variety of foods in your pet’s diet.
