So Long!
After nearly three decades, The Brewer’s Art, a brewpub and restaurant in Mount Vernon, closed last month. The closing was effective immediately, noted by a sign posted on the door.
Employees received a text message stating that the restaurant was closing its doors permanently and they would not receive any funds owed. But the hospitality industry is extremely generous when it comes to supporting its community. To that end, it was reported (via social media) that The Brass Tap donated 10% of all sales to benefit Brewer’s Art employees.
Additionally, they added a button to allow customers to donate additional funds on their checks. Kudos to The Brass Tap. (brasstapbeerbar.com)
Also, the Don’t Know Tavern in Federal Hill closed at the end of February, according to a post on its social media platforms from owner John Leonard. “With heavy hearts and unimaginable sadness, Don’t Know Tavern will be closing,” he wrote. “This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. Serving this community has been the honor of my life, and we will forever be grateful for the love and support you’ve shown us. This is not the outcome we wanted, and it’s not for lack of trying.”
