One-stop shopping at Eddie’s of Roland Park! And we all need one-stop shopping these days!

Whether you’re looking for holiday gifts or gift baskets, platters, dinners or desserts, you may want to give the good folks at Eddie’s of Roland Park a call. After all, Thanksgiving and Chanukah are just around the corner!

For Chanukah dinner, they offer brisket, latkes, challah, apple cake, jelly donuts and rugelach. (Note: they also have great menus for Christmas, Kwanzaa and New Year’s, too.)

Just call to order for pickup or delivery. Eddie’s offers lots of choices for gift baskets for all holidays, but also just to brighten someone’s day. (Hint: I’d be thrilled to receive a “Breakfast in Bed” or “Made in Maryland” basket. Just sayin’ …)

For out-of-towners, think about sending Eddie’s jumbo lump crab cakes, which can be shipped overnight throughout the country.

And from Dec. 10-16, Eddie’s will celebrate Chanukah with a free virtual event with the Jewish Museum of Maryland and other community partners who will join together nightly for a children’s story, activity and candle-lighting program.

All nights will start at 5, except Friday, Dec. 11, which will start at 4 and Saturday, Dec. 12, at 6. Don’t forget to register online at eddiesofrolandpark.com/events

For personal/standard grocery shopping, Eddie’s offers online ordering with curbside/contactless pick-up. Go to eddiesofrolandpark.com/special-services/personal-shopping.

By the way,I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Eddie’s coddies. According to my mother (“Mom Rom”), they’re the only ones in town that are reminiscent of the coddies she grew up with, made with cod and not just potato.

FYI, coddies are special-order and during peak holiday weeks they’re limited to their holiday menus. eddiesofrolandpark.com/

Taste of Home

In addition to faves like crab cakes and coddies, to send a gift that will summon childhood memories for B-more expatriates, Berger Cookies — those native-to-Baltimore chocolate-iced wonders — can be sent out in festive cookie tins. They also offer their half yellow cakes with chocolate frosting. bergercookies.com/

The Goetze’s (pronounced GETS) Candy Co. has been a hometown staple in Baltimore for 125 years, selling caramel creams and cowtales. But they also have gift and snack boxes, cowpoke lollipops and butter caramels. goetzecandy.com/

Somethin’ Fishy

The latest venture by the Foreman Wolf restaurant group, Cindy Lou’s Fish House recently opened inside Canopy by Hilton at Harbor Point Hotel, at 1215 Wills St.

Chef Cindy Wolf

The property features gorgeous waterfront views that include the iconic Domino Sugar plant and Locust Point/Silo Point, and offers Southern-inspired fare such as chicken fried steak, crab cakes, crab fluff and lobster po’ boys.

Both Tony Foreman and Chef Cindy Wolf have a long history with Southern cusine, having opened Savannah inside the Admiral Fell Inn in Fells Point in 1995. This was after they worked together at Georgia Brown’s,  the elegant and iconic Southern eatery in D.C. (Sidenote: Georgia Brown’s was also the stomping ground of Chef Neal Langermann, who previously owned Langermann’s in Canton and is now at the Blackwall Barn & Lodge in Gambrill’s. Welcome to Smalltimore, hon!)

It used to be that inside-the-hotel locations denoted a maybe-not-so-fab restaurant, but that’s certainly no longer the case. Rec Pier Chop House in the Sagamore Pendry, Magdalena A Maryland Bistro in the Ivy Hotel and the B&O American Brasserie in the Hotel Monaco are all great examples of popular in-hotel dining spots.

And as with all things Foreman Wolf, (Charleston, Bar Vasquez, Cinghiale, Petit Louis Bistro, Johnny’s), Cindy Lou’s Fish House is destined to become a dining destination hot spot. cindylousfishhouse.com/
