Hundreds of community members came together at the Gordon Outdoors venue of the Rosenbloom Owings Mills Jewish Community Center on Thursday night, Oct. 20, to celebrate Sukkot as part of the second annual Harvest Music Festival.

The event was presented by J Life, a new family engagement platform designed to position the Owings Mills JCC as the destination for meaningful Jewish communal experiences. (The festival was originally scheduled for Oct. 13, the fourth day of Sukkot, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather.)

The free, family-friendly gathering featured live music from Alex and the Kaleidoscope and Moose Jaw Bluegrass. Families ate in sukkahs, enjoyed face-painting, bubble art, an inflatable toddler playground, yard games and danced to the musical entertainment.

The festival was the first community-wide signature event presented by J Life, which aims to connect families with Jewish traditions as well as with new friends and community. All families — including LGBTQ, multi-racial and interfaith — are invited and welcome at J Life events.

On Sunday, Dec. 18, at 5 p.m., J Life will present “Illumination Celebration: Share the Light” at Gordon Outdoors for the first night of Chanukah. For information about J Life, visit jcc.org/jewish-experiences/j-life
