Make a High-Octane Statement with Shoulder-Grazing Earrings

In the everything-old-is-new-again department, fall fashion week 2017 had designers paying homage to Reagan-era excess with statement earrings reminiscent of such style icons as Madonna, Molly Ringwald and Cyndi Lauper.

Yet, unlike the 1980s — when oversized clip-on faux pearl earrings, neon geometric shapes and rhinestone clusters were paired with heavy make-up, big hair and even bigger shoulder pads — today’s earrings are meant to be the main attraction.

Generously sprinkled with fuchsia tassels, multi-color pom poms, beaded fringe and chunky stones, statement earrings have a special occasion feel but can be worn every day.

Jewelry designers have embraced the trend, creating abstract sculptural pieces, asymmetrical designs, oversized hoops sprinkled with diamonds, and shoulder grazing extra fine fringe in 24-karat gold.

Can’t see spending the big bucks for trendy earrings? No problem! Costume jewelry works too and no one need be the wiser. So enjoy these fun and fabulous styles.

After all, girls just wanna have fun!
