The Baltimore Jewish Film Festival has been presenting internationally renowned films of Jewish interest for more than 25 years. Screenings — which include documentaries, features and even some regional premieres — are at the Gordon Center for Performing Arts (unless otherwise noted) from April 8 through May 6.
“1945” takes place as a small Hungarian town prepares for a wedding. The arrival of two Orthodox men changes the town’s mood. April 12, 7:30 p.m. 
In “An Act of Defiance,” 10 political activists, including Nelson Mandela, face a possible death sentence for conspiracy to commit sabotage after they are arrested by the apartheid South African government during a raid in the town of Rivonia in 1963. May 1, 7:30 p.m. 
“An Israeli Love Story” is based on the true love affair between Pnina Gary, director and actress from Nahalal, and Eli Ben–Zvi, son of Rachel Yanait and Yitzhak Ben-Zvi the second president of Israel. April 22, 1 p.m. 
“Ben Gurion, Epilogue” includes material from six hours of recently discovered archival interview footage of David Ben-Gurion. April 10, 7:30 p.m. 
In “Between Worlds,” a distraught girlfriend and an estranged mother sit together on the way to visiting the same man in a hospital without realizing it. April 22, 4 p.m. 
“Body & Soul: An American Bridge” looks at the relationship in American popular music between African-Americans and American Jews. April 8, 2 p.m. at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum 
“Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story” explores the life of the Hollywood star, who also invented concepts that became the basis for cell phone and bluetooth technology. May 6, 3 p.m. at North Oaks 
In “Bye Bye Germany,” David Bermann, a charming Jewish man, and a group of friends launch a fine linen business catering to the gentile women in the neighboring towns of Frankfurt, Germany, 1946. April 24, 7:30 p.m. 
The controversial film “In Between,” which focuses on the lives of three young Palestinian women living in Tel Aviv, will be shown May 3 at the Baltimore Jewish Film Festival. 
“Keep the Change” explores the relationship between David and Sarah who meet at a JCC support group for special needs adults. April 29, 3 p.m. 
In “The Cakemaker,” Thomas travels from Germany to Jerusalem to seek closure and learn about the life of his recently deceased lover, Oren. April 19, 7:30 p.m.
